What about the / "Shock Value"?

The ability of people to create "shock value" in literature, art, music, film, visual arts, and dance have long been destroyed. Have all the forms and boundaries been tampered with that we are no longer shocked by what we hear and see in the media? Does the entertainment industry continue to challenge what we as a society deem acceptable? Where do we go from here? Please give examples..
