I need to know the title of this movie with robotic/metal spiders/insects?

ok. I remember seeing this movie when I was younger. So it came out before 1990 and all I can remember is the end. Well, I think it's the end. There is this guy hanging on to the edge of a crane (i think) on the top of a skyscr/building. Below him are a swarm of robotic looking spiders? He is afraid to fall because I guess they will attack and kill him. Please help. This movie title has evaded me for years.
