How can I wash my clothes?

Hi I am a student from Mexico and I will go soon for an exchange program to Australia, I was wondering if you can help me to know what detergents could I use over there to wash my clothes? Do you know any good brands that I can use? If you can give me any suggestions for detergents , fabric softeners , for dark clothes and white clothes etc. I will appreciate your help a lot. Thank you!
